Happy World Down Syndrome Day

Better Late Then Never! Resharing my FB post for my friends who shy away from social media.

Today is World Down Syndrome Day. I was trying to figure out what to write and thought instead I’d tell you about what’s going on today for Nick. It’s kind of a big day for him.

Today is Nick’s first day at a new job. Like other people his age, to get a job, Nick had to update his resume, post it on a job site and interview until he got an offer. Also, like others, he needed some help with the process.
What’s a little different is that Nick will have a job coach working with him until he’s able to do all his tasks independently. What a great deal! I would have benefitted from having a mentor by my side in my early years. In fact, on my musical journey, having a mentor has been life changing. Nick is so lucky.
I’ll let you know how his first day goes, but so far the report is that he loves it!! Life is good for Nick.
If you ever have any questions about Nick or Down syndrome, please feel free to reach out here or email me at dhalle@dsfoc.org. Talking about life with Nick is one of my favorite things to do, so don’t be shy.
